Frequently Asked Questions

Since 1992, Daly’s Truck Driving School in Buford, GA has helped more than 16,000 students earn their Commercial Driver’s Licenses and launch successful trucking careers. We are approved to license by Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) as a State approved  CDL Training School, which means our programs meet or exceed state standards for curriculum, facilities, and instructor qualifications. Whether you’re interested in a Class A CDL, Class B CDL, or HAZMAT endorsement, we provide state-approved training that prepares you to pass your CDL exams and hit the road with confidence.

What programs does Daly’s Truck Driving School offer?

  • Class A CDL Training: 17-day in-person/online classroom program -full-time: Mon–Fri, 7 am–5 pm;  or part-time Saturdays and Sundays, and online course work during the week.
  • Class B CDL Training: 8-day in-person/online classroom program using real, unrestricted equipment—enables driving, dump trucks, concrete trucks, and other straight trucks without limitations.
  • HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Endorsement Training: Online ELDT-compliant course—for Class A/B holders—required prior to taking the state written exam.

How long is each program?

  • Class A: 17 days. First five days can be completed online.
  • Class B: 8 days.  First four days can be completed online.
  • HAZMAT Training: Completed online so there is flexible scheduling, though exact duration depends on the student and how quickly they learn. (Comparable schools in Georgia offer around 6-hour sessions).

What are hands-on training facilities like?

Daly’s uses real equipment and a specially designed 6-acre asphalt training yard with two full-size testing carousels—ideal for replicating actual exam conditions. This high-quality surface comes at a cost, but ensures your training reflects what the exam will require. Some schools don’t have you practice on paved surfaces which increases the challenge when you have to test. Make sure where you practice and where you test are identical to ensure your best chances of success.

What does the training cover?

  • Class A & B: Comprehensive classroom/online instruction, yard backing maneuvers (straight line, 90°, offset, conventional and blind-side parallel), pre-trip inspections, and on-the-road practice (shifting/manual is optional)—covering highways, city streets, industrial areas, and more. Many students pass their CDL test on their first try.
“Long 10-hour days but full of great information taught by skilled, knowledgeable instructors… pre-trip… yard training… road training…” (TruckersReport.com).

What does training cost?

Costs vary not only between Class A & Class B, but also between the method of enrollment. There are many companies that will also reimburse you when you begin to work with them.  Daly’s works with voucher programs through the Department of Labor, Veterans Association, Vocational Rehab, and other funding sources. Tuition financing through various other sources is also available for qualified applicants. Call us or fill out the Quick Contact form today to find out which program is best for you.

Can I get financial aid or employer sponsorship?

There is Federal Aid through your local Department of Labor and many trucking companies will reimburse the student upon beginning work with the carrier. Additionally, potential financial resources include:
  • Department of Labor
  • Veterans Association
  • Vocational Rehab
  • Goodwill

Are graduates placed with trucking companies?
